Our Story

First meeting at the climbing gym

Where We Met

We went to the same high school but barely spoke — Michael was busy chasing girls, and Tereza was training for the Olympics.Years later, Michael needed help with trampoline training and remembered that one particularly flexible girl from high school. One bounce session turned into a diving trip to Montenegro. What was supposed to be a summer fling turned into a lifetime of spotting each other's landings — and never really sticking to the plan.

Adventures in Patagonia

Adventures Together

We've never really been the "sit still" types. From trekking through sideways rain in Iceland to wiping out on Balinese waves, our relationship has been powered by plane tickets and questionable judgment. We've dived into cenotes in Mexico, chased japow in Hokkaido, and last year, Tereza helped Michael check off a lifelong goal: climbing one of the Torres del Paine towers in Patagonia.

Not everything went according to plan — like the time Tereza slid 50 meters down a frozen slope on Dents du Midi toward a cliff edge… and stopped herself with an ice axe. (Solid instincts. Slightly dramatic.)

And then came the biggest leap: leaving behind a career in M&A law in Prague to join Michael in Switzerland. No job, little plan — just one over-packed car and a lot of promises (Michael's specialty).

Summit proposal in Torres del Paine

The Proposal

This wasn't your classic sunset-on-a-beach proposal. This was Patagonia — unpredictable weather, sharp peaks, and no cell signal. Michael had the plan in mind for over a year, but in Torres del Paine, the mountains set the schedule.

From the start, the deal was simple: if we made it to the top alive, it was meant to be.

When we arrived, the forecast looked bleak. But then — whether by luck, stubbornness, or good timing — a five-day weather window opened, wedged between two classic Patagonian storms. We reached the North Tower summit — freezing, tired, and wondering whose brilliant idea this whole trip was. Michael dropped to one knee — partly from emotion, partly because there wasn't much room to stand. Knowing she'd need him for the rappels down… Tereza said yes.

"Proposing on a mountain: 20% weather, 10% planning, 70% knowing he's the one who'll help you rappel back down."
